Treat Boxes

Today I tackled a project that I found on Kadie Labadie's blog.  Take a look at these yummy treat holders.....

I happened upon Kadie's blog (HERE) and scrolled through her wonderful work and discovered these little boxes.  They are just the right size for a Ferraro Rocher candy.  I'm not a big hazelnut fan and was thrilled to discover the dark chocolate and almond version.  I emailed Kadie and she graciously gave up her source for the boxes -   Christi Beck (HERE).  Christi had a great video tutorial and it was so easy to follow.  I made a bunch in different colors.  Take a look at a few more...

So much fun to make.  Thanks Kadie and Christi for the inspiration!!

Have a great day,

Happy Mother's Day

I made this card for my mom to celebrate Mother's Day/  I love the Print Poetry DSP - I should say I love all the blue designs in this packet!!  To make the card, I fussy cut a few Stippled Blossoms and added a retired sentiment.  Layers, pearls, dimensionals...you get the idea. I thought long and hard about adding a third flower.  I know that using elements in three's is highly preferred and recommended.  But balancing the pearls and sentiments seemed to work too.

Mom is not going to get the card until next weekend when we see her - it's secured firmly to her gift and she's coming up next Sunday.  It will be fun to have two Mother's Day celebrations!!  She doesn't check my blog, so I'm not ruining her surprise!!

Have a wonderful Mother's Day!

PPA158 - A Color Challenge

Squeezed in a little stamping tonight.  It's been a while so I decided to kick start my mojo by using the PPA challenge.  And what a challenge - I took one look at these colors and thought, "I can't do this!"  Take a look for yourself...

After thinking about how to combine the soft blue with the bright green and my least favorite yellow, I figured the only way to make it work was lots of clean white space.  I have a hard time photographing white - the card has a bluish tinge to it and no matter how many pics I took, I couldn't get it quite right!

I started with French Foliage and used the script after stamping off once.  I did the same with the other two challenge colors and the distressed dots stamp.  I punched a butterfly with some Starfruit DSP, added a few pearls and the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes.  A little banner framelit and lots of layers in all the challenge colors and there ya have it!

Challenge accomplished!

The inspiration for this card came from one I saw on Pinterest.  The original design used the same stamp sets and some smaller butterflies.  I gave it another shot in one of my favorite color combos.  What do you think of this one?

Same idea...different colors and different embellishments.  I kind of like this card and my thanks to the original designer!

So there you have it.  My PPA inspired night of stamping.  Take a minute to go visit the PPA Challenge blog HERE and you will see all sorts of wonderful combinations of this week's challenge colors.

Have a great night!

Freshly Made Sketch #83

Thanks for stopping by my blog today.  I created this card for the latest Freshly Made Sketch.  I really liked this template and plan to use it again - so simple, but clean and the layers add lots of interest.  Check out the sketch:

I borrowed the idea of the embossed flowers from a card I saw on Pinterest, but I made a few changes to make it my own.  First, I stamped the Crumb Cake panel with my very favorite background stamp - En Francais.  Then I stamped the flowers/leaves (Fabulous Florets) in VersaMark and heat embossed with white powder.  I used Melon Mambo, Primrose Petals and Old Olive markers to color the images.  A Melon Mambo panel and strip along with some stitched white ribbon finished it off.  I left off the sentiment so I could use it for any occasion.  I'll add one to the inside before sending it!

Let me know if you have any questions.  Have a great day!

Stamp Club Project

Thought you all might want to see what my stamp club will be making this Friday night...

The envelope box comes courtesy of Dawn Olchefske.  I followed her tutorial which was very well done and made the task so, so easy!!

The DSP is from the Print Poetry pack in the Spring catalog.  I used the Midnight Muse and Craft colors, but my stampers will get to play with some of the other hues in the pack.

I found inspiration for some of the card designs from Pinterest, but changed many of the elements to make them my own.  I really appreciate the inspiration out there in blog land.  Another card was inspired by Debbie Crowley.  You can click HERE to visit her blog.

I fit four cards and matching envelopes in the box created by Dawn.  Here's the link so you can try it yourself.  Click HERE.

Let me know if you have any questions and thanks for stopping by.

Have a great day!

Think Spring

That's what this card made me do....

DYNAMIC DUOS offered this pink combination for their weekly challenge.  I love these two shades of pink together.

I added Sahara Sand and Whisper White as my neutrals.  The French Script background was stamped off once to mute the color a bit.  I used the two flowers from Vintage Vogue and did a bit of fussy cutting.  A few pearls and dimensionals and I was done!  This card came together quickly.

The card above was actually my second attempt for the challenge.  I told myself I was going to use a stamp set that hasn't seen much ink and I chose Reason to Smile.  For some reason, I couldn't get it to work for me and went with the Vintage Vogue set instead.  Then I re-worked the panel with the flowers from Reason to Smile and came up with a different layout (Round 3 if you will).

I stamped the solid images in Pretty in Pink and used Regal Rose for the outline images.  A little border and a dry embossed background added a crispness and some "dots" to the card :)

I think I still like the first one better.  What do you think?

Well, that's all for now.  Head on over to Dynamic Duos and check out the inspiring cards.  It'll make you want to pull out your pink ink!!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!!

Dynamic Duos #43

DYNAMIC DUOS offered an very intriguing color combo this week - two colors I probably wouldn't have put together on my own.

These colors really made me think spring.  Actually, everything makes me think spring these days.  We got 8 inches of snow dumped on us this past Friday.  School was cancelled and while the long weekend was nice, the extra snow day is probably going to extend our school year all the way to the end of June!!  Yikes!!  But I digress...

Back to the card.  I stamped the stem from Fabulous Florets in green and stamped the flowers onto scraps and did a bit of fussy cutting.  I popped one of them on dimensionals and tucked the pool party flower from the Posies Kit (spring catalog) behind it.  I added some baker's twine and a sentiment from Fabulous Phrases.  I ended up really liking how this card came out and was pleased with the color combo.  Love it when that happens.

Thanks for visiting and have a great day!

Freshly Made Easter Chicks

A quick post so I can head off to the gym this morning...

I loosely cased a cute Easter card I saw on Pinterest made by Amanda Burditt.  I thought these little chicks made with SU's owl punch were a fun way to get ready for the holiday.  I used this week's sketch over at FRESHLY MADE SKETCHES to line up these little cuties.  Here's the sketch:

Daffodil Delight and Gumball Green keep the colors bright for spring (if it EVER gets here - haha).  The Banner Framelits let me crop a sentiment from Teeny TIny Wishes.

Well, gotta run - literally...

Thanks for stopping by and have a nice day.

Dynamic Duos #42

Although it's not quite spring-like weather here in New England, the colors for this weeks challenge over at DYNAMIC DUOS just seemed right for a springtime card.

I must admit, I typically don't reach for Garden Green.  My favorite green tends to be Old Olive or Lucky Limeade, so I had to step outside my comfort zone to pair this green with the bright yellow.

I knew I wanted to use flowers and figured I would do a little fussy cutting.  I went through all my flower stamps and settled on these poppies.  I really like the line images for a clean and simple card.  Lots of white space really helps the colors make a statement, don't you think?

I stamped the image in green, then again with the yellow.  I cut the flowers and popped them up with dimensionals.  I love the texture this creates.  Here's a closer look...love those shadows, too!!

I added a little Daffodil Delight stitched ribbon and matted it on the same Daffodil card stock before adhering it to the base.

Have a great day and think spring!!

Elements of Style for PPA

My stamping time has come in spurts lately, but a snow day this weekend gave me some time with ink and paper.  I knew I wanted to enter the challenge over at PALS PAPER ARTS; however, the colors threw me a bit.  I've never mastered the art of mixing soft and bright colors, but was determined to give it a go.  Here's the colors:

I knew the best way for me to deal with colors that were well, challenging, was to us a stamp set that I was comfortable with.  So out came the floral image from Elements of Style.  Ahhhhhh.  That was better.  I used markers and a blender pen to incorporate all three colors.  I did add a little sahara sand along the edges for some depth - hope that is ok with the challenge rules.  Then I left lots of white space and gave it a smidge of a colorful border with more white.  In the end, I kind of liked these colors together!  Guess that's what challenges are for.

Hope you enjoyed the card and thanks for visiting!

Have a good day,

Linda
